چکیده

MgO-barrier magnetic tunnel junctions with half-metallic Heusler alloy electrodes have attracted considerable attention for spintronics applications. However, there remain a couple of issues related to materials that should be resolved before practical use. Recently, quarterly equiatomic alloys as advanced alloys. CoIrMnZ (Z = Al, Si, Ga, and Ge) were designed predicted moderate Curie temperatures lattice-matched the MgO barrier, which is advantageous compared traditional Co2 T. T [T. Roy et al., J. Magn. Mater. 498 (2020) 166092]. Here, we experimentally investigated structure properties thin films composed one these alloys, CoIrMnAl, fabricated by sputtering deposition. We successfully obtained B2 chemical ordering, even without post-annealing process. The lattice constants annealed at 500–600 ∘C approximately equal values. magnetization 10 K was close 500 kA/m, temperature 400 K, 70% values fully ordered structure. observed in B2-ordered well explained ferrimagnetism appeared CoIrMnAl full-swap disorders Co-Ir Mn-Al almost disorder Co-Mn, from first-principles calculations.

Magnetic and structural depth profiles of Heusler alloy Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5 epitaxial films on Si(1 1 1).

The depth-resolved chemical structure and magnetic moment of [Formula: see text], thin films grown on Si(1 1 1) have been determined using x-ray and polarized neutron reflectometry. Bulk-like magnetization is retained across the majority of the film, but reduced moments are observed within 45[Formula: see text] of the surface and in a 25[Formula: see text] substrate-interface region. The reduce...

Effect of swap disorder on the physical properties of the quaternary Heusler alloy PdMnTiAl: a first-principles study

Heusler alloys crystallize in a close-packed cubic structure, having a four-atom basis forming a face-centred cubic lattice. By selecting different composite elements, Heusler alloys provide a large family of members for frontier research of spintronics and magnetic materials and devices. In this paper, the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of a novel quaternary Heusler alloy, PdMn...

Structural, electronic, and optical properties of NiAl3: First-principles calculations

We report ab initio density-functional calculations of the structural, electronic, and optical properties of NiAl3, using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation to the exchange-correlation potential. The D011 structure is found to be energetically favorable over both the cubic L12 and A15 phases. The density of states around the F...
